Terrazzo optics have been highlighted at several fairs this season. It started all at tile fair Cersaie in Bologna in Italy in Autumn 2017. One of the focused trend themes of the world’s biggest tile fair had been Terrazzo. Now this trend will hit also the furniture world.
Imm Cologne 2018 and Maison & Object 2018 in Paris had shown already very nice side tables and table tops in Terrazzo optic.…and this is just the beginning!
Terrazzo brings the flair of the Mediterranean into our homes. It reminds us of holidays in cities of Europe’s South like Rome or Florence where we have seen wonderful Terrazzo floors in buildings or cafés from the 19th century. It also transports the sentiments of the 1950ies, when Terrazzo was used very often for flooring in new built estates. In the 1950ies a lot of textile and surface designers were inspired by Terrazzo and created light and colourful designs for deco fabrics and table tops. As we are living now in a world in which a lot of design inspiration is taken from the past. So, it is no surprise why Terrazzo has this huge comeback!
Our brand-new décor “Carapace” is catching this trend perfectly. Beautiful details and a great colour play in the small stone pieces make this décor outstanding. Contrasted, tone in tone, in dark or very light hues – you can achieve every colour or look which fits best into your collections… put a bit of the “Mediterranean flair” into your products!
